A Look Ahead into Q3

It’s hard to believe that the year is halfway over, and even harder to believe that it has only been five months since Calkin PA formally launched. We’ve hit the ground running, continuing to grow our team and deliver amazing results for our clients.

As we look ahead to Q3 and beyond, our team will be playing close attention to legislative and budget moves happening in the state, as well as how the national narrative continues to drive policy and business decisions broadly and at local levels. Hot California topics to watch in the quarter ahead:

• Implications on NGOs, education, environmental programs, public education campaigns and beyond from budget shortfall

• Potential policy shifts in areas like energy, where we see power grid and oil and gas top of mind, especially as the state’s gas tax officially increases for CA drivers

• Continued focus on hot button issues including housing affordability, homelessness and general cost of living in the state

• As housing availability and affordability remain hot button topics in the state, many eyes will be tracking updates around AB1240, a bill that aims to restrict large corporate entities from purchasing and leasing single-family residential properties in California

• Some policymakers and organizations in California aim to completely ban Per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) chemicals from being used in virtually everything, setting up future debate about science-backed claims and overall regulation in the state
